carlton-vichy-france-luggage-label-1930s
Carlton Vichy Luggage Label France - 1930s

A distinctive 1930s Carlton luggage label from Vichy, France, with a playful travel-themed illustration on a vivid red ground. The oval design pairs a hand offering a glass of bubbling water with another carrying a grey suitcase, beneath the large arched “CARLTON” lettering. The destination “VICHY” anchors the composition at the foot of the label.

Cream borders, dark outlines and simplified blocks of colour give this label a bold Art Deco character. The suitcase carries the printed initials “R.V.”; the artist's identity has not been established. An appealing piece for collectors of French hotel labels, spa-town souvenirs and interwar travel advertising.

Type: Hotel luggage label

Condition: Excellent (E).
